STORIES OF WOMXN
A Community Project
The Stories of Womxn is a collaborative story-telling and mosaic-building project that is meant to honor the legacies, histories, and experiences of womxn and femme of all different cultures, including womxn of color, immigrants, trans folx, and gender-queer individuals. This project is an opportunity to connect with others while challenging the dominant, oppressive patriarchal narratives that try to silence us.
This mosaic sculpture will stand 12 feet above the ground- boldly, fiercely, and unafraid. She will hold stories of strength, struggle, discrimination, anger, joy, and resilience. The designs for this project draw from stories shared by many individuals, as well as stories of our ancestors, metaphors in nature, and mythology from cultures around the world.
Anyone who would like to participate in building this community mosaic is invited! No mosaic experience is required, and it’s free to join. We are practicing social-distancing and covid safety measures, so our workshops hold up to 3 people at a time. Email Juliette Myers at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will send you the sign up sheet.
